Anita Tavakol
Shortsfest Programmer
Anita Tavakol has worked in short film programming for over a decade, with a focus on discovering, elevating, and supporting emerging filmmakers. She began her career at the Canadian Film Centre’s Worldwide Short Film Festival, and has been a part of the programming teams for the Revue Cinema's Short Shorts festival and Aspen Shortsfest. She has been an industry guest and panelist at the Halifax Independent Filmmakers Festival, and has served in a variety of roles at the Toronto International Film Festival, including Short Cuts Programming Associate; Associate Programmer, Industry; and, most recently, Talent Development Manager, overseeing TIFF talent development programming including Filmmaker Lab and Writers' Studio.
