Do you dream of becoming a filmmaker? This is your chance to join fellow aspiring storytellers and filmmakers for an immersive dive into the world of animation.

During this week-long camp, with the guidance of professional filmmakers and teaching artists, students will collaborate with each other and gain valuable hands-on experience as they craft individual fairytale stories through many styles of Stop Motion: Pixilation, Cut Out Animation, Object Motion, Claymation, and 2D Computer Generated Imagery. It’s an exciting hands-on experience with plenty of arts and crafts to keep the team engaged along the storytelling journey. We will also use Adobe Creative Cloud Software to composite all the animated elements together.

Aspen Film partners with the Community College of Aurora’s Cinematic Arts program to provide experienced, bi-lingual (Spanish/English)  educators to teach the camps. The staff-to-camper ratio is under 1:5 to ensure each participant gets individual attention.

Day 1: 

Film Camp kicks off  with an introduction to some of the many different types of media which can be used to make animation.  Campers will utilize flip books and make short animations to get their creativity flowing. From there, the young creators choose a personal story and begin working to create their own “twisted fairytale” 2D animation.

Day 2:

We begin day 2 with a flurry of activity as students act out activities (skiing, snowboarding, flying, etc), while learning about the mechanics of movement and how those principles apply to animation. These exercises help refine the vision for their personal stories before they pitch their fairytales to the class. 

Day 3:

This day is all about production. Each student/project has their own camera and workspace. Working from their storyboard we will craft each scene.  There will be an audio station for recording voice over and other audio needs. Campers will also begin learning to use After Effects and techniques to pull their final projects together.

Day 4:

Production continues and projects move into post. Campers continue working on their fairytale stories, as well as the team project, in anticipation of the final day of camp.

Day 5:

Camp concludes with final post-production touches applied, followed by the big finale – a screening at the Isis Theatre! Friends and family are invited to view the fruits of the teens’ labor on the big screen, followed by a Q&A with the newly minted filmmakers. 

Este programa de una semana está diseñado para jóvenes quienes están curiosos y serios del cine y quieren aprender cómo expresarse mediante el arte de Stop Motion y Animación,y  también la experiencia de cómo trabajar en equipo. Cada participante estará presente en cada paso del  proceso. Aspen Film se asocia con Colorado Film School para proveer educadores de experiencia que también son bilingües (Español/Inglés). En este programa cada 5 estudiantes contarán con un maestro para asegurar atención individual.

Dia 1: 

El campamento de cine empezará con una introducción a los diferentes tipos de medios que se podrán usar para animación. Los estudiantes utilizarán el arte de Flip Book y harán cortas animaciones para que su creatividad empiece a florecer. A partir de aquí, los jóvenes creadores eligiran una historia personal y comenzarán a trabajar en crear su propia animación 2D. 

Dia 2:

Empezaremos dia dos con un sin fin de actividad, empezando con cada estudiante actuando los movimientos de varios actividades (esquiar volar etc ) Durante esto aprenderán las mechnicas de movimiento y cómo estos principios se aplican en animación. Estos ejercicios ayudarán a refinar la visión para sus historias personales, antes de mostrar su idea final para su cuento de hades a los demás de la clase. 

Dia 3:

El enfoque de este día será todo de  producción. Cada estudiante tendrá su cámara y su estación de trabajo. Trabajando de su guión gráfico empezaran a crear cada escena. Habrá también una estación de audio para grabar narración y cualquier otra necesidad de audio. Aprenderán cómo usar After Effects un programa de computadora que los ayudará con las técnicas necesarias para elaborar sus proyectos finales juntos.

Dia 4:

Producción continua y los proyectos se moverán a post producción. Los estudiantes  continuarán trabajando en sus cuentos de hadas y también en el proyecto de grupo. Todo esto en anticipación del último día del programa.

Dia 5:

El Campamento concluye  con los últimos toques de post producción , y  con el estreno de  las  películas de los estudiantes en la pantalla grande en Isis Theatre! Amigos y familiares están invitados a ver el duro  trabajo de sus jóvenes en la pantalla grande. Seguido con una sesión de preguntas y respuestas con los recién nombrados cineastas.
